Michael J. Abrams, Ph.D., President & Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Abrams was appointed as President and CEO of Inimex in November 2009. Dr. Abrams was the founding CEO of AnorMED, Inc and led that company as President and CEO for ten years. AnorMED discovered and developed Mozobil,
a drug for improving stem cell mobilization for patients undergoing stem cell transplantation. Mozobil was approved by FDA in 2008 and AnorMED was acquired by Genzyme Corp. in 2006 for $580M. Prior to AnorMED, Abrams was Manager Biomedical Research for Johnson Matthey, plc where he led the spin-off of the biomedical research group to form AnorMED. Abrams has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA in Chemistry from Bowdoin College. In 2009 he was a co-recipient of the Georg Charles de Hevesy Nuclear Pioneer Award from the Society of Nuclear Medicine for his work in the invention of the radiopharmaceutical, Cardiolite.
John R. North, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer
Dr. North led the early development of Inimex’ IDR technology, serving as EVP of R&D in 2004 and then President and Chief Executive Officer 2005 to 2009. Prior to joining Inimex, he served as Sr. Vice President, Scientific Affairs and Chief Scientific Officer of QLT, Inc. Earlier in his career, Dr. North was Managing Director of Monotech Laboratories Ltd., Biotechnology Consultant at PA Technology Ltd. and spent 12 years with various U.K. and U.S.-based subsidiaries within the Beaufour Ipsen Group, most recently as Head of Exploratory Development at Ipsen International in the U.K. Dr. North received a Ph.D. in Immunology and an M.A. in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, England.
Oreola Donini, Ph.D., Senior Director, Preclinical R&D
Dr. Donini has 11 years experience in drug discovery, optimization and development and has lead the discovery, selection and advancement of Inimex' lead drug candidate, IMX942. Prior to joining Inimex, Dr. Donini was involved in drug discovery and development at Kinetek Pharmaceuticals, managing a key program with an external partner, as well as initiating and managing a team providing informatics analysis and support to the company at large. Dr. Donini received her PhD in Chemistry from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and completed post-doctoral studies at the University of California, San Francisco.
Martin (Marty) McConnell, C.A., Chief Financial Officer
For the past seven years Marty has worked with emerging high tech and Biotech companies as part-time CFO focused on strategic financial issues. For the prior 18 years he was CFO for two midsize public (TSX, Nasdaq) Canadian high tech companies, from 1993 to 2002 with Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. and from 1985 to 1993 at Epic Data International Inc. Mr. McConnell holds a B. Comm. from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Accountant.
